Mariners set for home opener against Angels - April 8, 2014

Safeco Field - After a 4-2 road trip to California to open the season, the Seattle Mariners return to the Emerald City for their home opener against the Los Angeles Angels.

Left-hander James Paxton (1-0, 0.00 ERA) faces off against fellow lefty Hector Santiago.

Manager Lloyd McClendon said Hisashi Iwakuma is scheduled to throw off a mound on Wednesday as he works back from a torn tendon in the middle finger on his right hand.

Iwakuma is scheduled to throw roughly 30 pitches in the outing and McClendon said he feels Iwakuma is a little ahead of schedule.

Taijuan Walker will head to Double-A Jackson to make his second rehab start. Walker has been sidelined with a right shoulder impingement suffered in spring training.
